Few thoughts on design on freelance basis

Hi there, fellow design runner! You must have already came across narrow path of combining jobs and making some money selling your time and design powers to good people in great need of a good design. Most of them, I assume, have a good level of knowledge in their professional areas and business processes -- if not, they would choose some other contractor, not you, because you share the word of your skills in between carefully selected circles of trusted people. It saves your time and leaves both sides more satisfied when working with nice guys and no money can take you to one table with compete idiots, right?

So it will be the first and almost only rule that matters -- avoid working with people who you think can't fulfill your requests. No matter the cost. But you already knew it before we met, I assume.

Imagine a situation where you have client who sees design process differently. Like creating templates with stolen photos he likes best. Or like using stupid fancy fonts. For content. In pink. And all capitals. What will you do? Leave him alone in need? Do dirty work and take money with no excuses? All this ways are foul -- and the only right way out is to educate client through design. And educate yourself through design too. You can create beautiful and useful stuff with anything, just do it -- there is no dead ends in our business. You can always shift there and here to put almost every project in almost every even to small budget -- just invent.
